How to charge

Before you start using the activity tracker, please charge it for at least 1 hour before use.

  1. Align the two metal connection points of the charger pod with the pair on the smart core.
  2. Make sure the clips of the charging pod are aligned with the sides of the smart core, then gently push the smart core into the charger pod as shown in the diagram below. You will hear a click when it is securely inserted in to the pod.
  3. Plug the charger pod into USB port of your PC or other power supply.
  4. Once the smart core is correctly connected with the charger pod, the battery charging animation will appear on the display.

When the smart core is fully charged, it lasts about 5-7 days. The operation time varies depend on actual usage.

Battery care and maintenance

  • Recharge the battery at least once every 6 months
  • This battery can be charged for approximately 300 times. It should last for at least 5 years given the battery is charged weekly.
  • This battery is non-replaceable. When the battery life is noticeably short after charging, your product might have reached its end of life. Contact your local waste disposal center for proper disposal of the product and battery.

    How to wear

    Your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is adjustable to fit most wrist sizes. Please follow the below steps:

    1. Insert the smart core into the wristband. Align the button side of both wristband and smart core before inserting.
    2. Insert the buckle into the appropriate buttonholes.
    3. Gently press both the buckle and the wristband between your thumb and forefinger until the wristband is securely fastened. Do not make the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ too loose as this could cause inaccurate readings.
    4. To make sure the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is securely fastened, pull the smart core with some pressure to make sure it is not easily loosened from your wrist.

    Download the App

    The app is available in both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Search “Ssmart Fit” in the search engine to find the app.

    Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ supports iOS and Android smart devices. Visit http://ssmart.oregonscientific.com/dynamo2 to check the compatibility of your smart device.

    Download the app and install it on your mobile device.

    USER PROFILE

    Once the Ssmart Fit app has successfully been installed, simply open the App and tap the “Get Started” icon to begin.

    You will now be on the “User Profile” screen where you are asked to give us your basic information such as your - Name, Gender, and Date of Birth - and your - Height, Weight and preferred Unit of Measurement(Metric or Imperial). To do this, simply tap on each icon to make the necessary changes. Make sure that you give accurate measurements, as this will ensure the. App and Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ to give you the most accurate readings and feedback.


    Turn on the Bluetooth before start

    Make sure the Bluetooth access of your mobile device is available ( is shown in the app). Go to Settings of your mobile device to turn on Bluetooth connectivity, otherwise pop-up message will appear.

    Pairing Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ with the App

    Make sure your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is charged for at least 1 hour before pairing.

    1. Activate Bluetooth on your smart phone and follow the in-app instruction in Ssmart Fit app for first time pairing.
    2. Go to Setting > Setup new device in the app.

    3. Remove your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ from the USB charger pod. The smart core will then display

    4. The smart core displays PAIR ME and it is available for pairing for up to 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, the smart core switches off. To make it available for pairing again, repeat step 1.

    5. The smart core displays PAIRED and vibrates when it is successfully connected to your mobile device.
    6. You can see the serial number and firmware version on Device section in Settings menu.
    7. The Home screen shows Connected when the syncing is successful.

    Your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is ready for use. The time displays on the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is synchronized automatically with your smart device.


    Tutorial

    You will have an in-app tutorial before entering into the Home screen.

    You can also view the tutorial at any time by pressing on the top right corner of the screen.


    User Profile settings

  • Tap Then, select User Profile.
  • You can make changes to the following items:

  • o Profile photo
    o Gender
    o Date of birth
    o Height
    o Weight
    o Unit
    o Calorie BMR (on/off)

  • Tap Save to save your settings.
  • Home screen settings

    You may customize your Home screen by choosing which items to display.

  • Tap , then select Home screen.
  • You can make changes to the following items by choosing on/off:
  • o Quick view function Set this function to ON to see the 6 icons on the Home screen.

  • Sleep
  • Weight
  • Active pie
  • Sharing

  • Device settings

    Here you can review and change your tracking device settings.

    You can make changes to the following items:
    o Silent alarm
    Set your agenda with daily reminder. You can set up to 6 alarms.

    Tap Add a new alarm.


    Tap Save to save the alarm.

    You can edit your existing alarm by tapping Edit. Tap to delete an alarm. Tap Done to save.


    For android devices, tap an existing alarm edit, then tap Save. Press and hold an existing alarm to delete.


    Tap < Back to exit.

    o Notification

    Toggle to receive the notifications on Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ from your mobile device.

    Some Android mobile devices may need to activate the notification access in order to receive notifications on your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+. Go to Settings on your mobile device, scroll to Security > Notification access, then check the box of Ssmart Fit app.

    For details about supported app notifications, see Appendix section.


    o Inactive reminder
    Keep active by setting a reminder. A reminder can be set after being inactive for 15/30/45/60, or tap Off to turn off the reminder.

    Then, set the Start time and End time for the period of reminder. Tap Done (< for android devices) to save. Your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ vibrates.
    o Set display
    You can choose your desired content to display on the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+. Tap Edit to edit the setting.


    Tap and hold to move up/down the options to adjust the order. Tap Done to save.

    o Set button
    You can change the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ operation button use. Choose either activate Find my phone, or Sleep monitoring when you press and hold the operation button.

    1. The operation button only features one function at a time.
    2. For Android devices, you may also choose Reject phone call or Accept phone call when you press and hold the operation button.

    Set your activity targets

  • Set your activity targets before getting started by filling the following items to your personal targets:
  • o Active minutes
    o Steps
    o Calories (kcal)
    o Distance (km/miles)

    Wake up time setting

    You can set to turn off the Sleep monitoring automatically on a daily basis. Set your wake up time for weekdays and weekend before using sleep monitoring function. This setting will wake the App and Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ from “sleep mode” at the times set.

  • Slide to turn on/off the function.
  • Tap the time to edit.
  • Tap < Back to save and exit.
  • MapMyFitness setting

    You may sign up or login a MapMyFitness account to upload your activity records. To do so, you need to authorize the service first.
    1. Slide to turn on the function.
    2. The app redirects you to the MapMyFitness website, sign up or login to continue.

    3. Press AUTHORIZE to allow the service access. It redirects back to the app and the setting is set to ON.

    4. To turn the setting OFF, slide the button to turn off.

    Once authorized, you are agreed to follow the terms and conditions of MapMyFitness and their third party providers.

    Monitor your activity

    You can monitor the progress and results of your activity via your mobile device.

  • On the Home screen, there are 6 icons:

    Calories (The calories chart shows an overall summary of intake or burnt calories. If the amount of calories burnt is greater than the intake, the chart shows the reading of calories burnt. If the amount of calories burnt is less than the intake, the chart shows the reading of calories intake.)

    Tap an icon and the screen automatically moves upwards; displaying the collected data and progress bar of each item.

    The colors of the bar trend indicate the achievement progress as follows:

  • Tap for in-app tutorial.
  • Your activity achievement will also be displayed on your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ after the time display. Tap your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ twice to review your activity progress on Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+. It displays the active minutes, steps, calories (kcal), distance (km). See Set display to customize desired display options.
  • When you reach your activity target, your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ will randomly display

    Locator

    You can locate your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ by the App if it is away from your mobile device.

    Tap The mobile screen displays the proximity between your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ and your mobile device. The pink circle on the screen indicates the approximate distance between you and the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+. The larger the circle means the greater distance.


    Find my phone

    Not only locating your tracking device, Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ can also be used to locate your mobile device when it is within the range. Set your operation button before using this feature. See Device Setting> Set button section in this manual.


  • Press and hold the operation button on Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+. The smart core on Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ displays and the mobile device rings or vibrates to catch your attention.
  • How close is your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ and mobile device?

    Find my phone tells you the connection between your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ and your mobile device. Your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ shows the following indicators and vibrates.

    Tap to activate or inactivate the Find my phone function.

    Add up your calorie intake

    You can input the calorie value of the food you eat into the app, which will calculate your daily calorie consumption for you. You may check the calories of your foods in our in-app database.

  • In Home screen, drag the screen downwards to enter the Calorie intake.
  • If you do not know the calorie in your food, tap the search bar and put the name of the food for a quick search in our database as shown on the next screen shot of the App.
  • You can find the foods calorie information on the nutrition label of the foods packaging as shown below:


    Heart rate monitor (PE289 – Dynamo 2+ only)

    Dynamo 2+ can measure your heart rate and help you to monitor your exercise intensity.

    1. Place your finger on the metal plate part of the Dynamo 2+. The smart core displays the animation below:
    2. Dynamo 2+ measures and displays your heart rate on the OLED display:
    3. When Dynamo 2+ is connected with your smart device, your heart rate will also show on the Ssmart Fitapp.

    If you cannot get your heart rate reading within 10 seconds or if any unusual conditions occurs during heart rate reading:

  • Moisten your fingertip slightly.
  • Make sure your fingertip is warm and steady.
  • Do not press too hard on the metallic plate.
  • The Dynamo 2+ displays

    if the metal plate part of the smart core is moistened by fluid such as sweat. Dry the smart core and the wristband thoroughly with a clean dry cloth, then repeat step 1 – 3 above for the heart rate measurement.

    Now you can enjoy your activity tracking day and night!

    Sleep Monitoring Function

    To monitor your sleeping status, make sure you are wearing a fully charged Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ and the wake up time is set (See Wake up time setting section of this manual) before you sleep.

    Start Sleep Monitoring Mode

  • Press and hold the operation button on Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ until the smart core displays
    and then vibrates.
  • Set your operation button to Sleep monitoring before using this function.
  • - OR -
  • Tap Enter sleep mode in Ssmart Fit App on your mobile device, your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ vibrates once entered.
    • To check if the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is working properly, press the operation button. The smart core displays
    • and the Fell asleep time counter starts when the Sleep Monitor Mode is on.

    The Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ automatically exits from sleep monitoring mode after 12 hours from the moment sleep mode was entered.


    View your sleeping status

    • Go to Home screen; then drag the screen upwards to the Sleep status area. You can check the following data:


    1. Awake marks in bar chart
    2. Sleeping time starts
    3. Sleeping time ends
    4. Total sleep time
    5. Number of times awoken
    6. Fell asleep time

    All collected activity and sleeping status data could be viewed in bar chart and sorted by day/week/month/year. Tap to view.

    Your achievements will be summarized as the icons at the top of the bar chart. Achievement icons and their meaning are shown in the table below:

    • You can rotate the screen for a horizontal view of the bar chart (iOS only).

    • View the data by daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis.

    Share your data

    Now you can share your activity or sleeping data directly from our app to your social platforms, such as

  • On Home screen, swipe up till you reach the bottom, you will then see the Share area. Tap the corresponding icons to choose your desired data for sharing and what social platform you wish to share on. The selected icons turn orange. Tap Share to enter into the next step.

  • Make sure you have logged in to the platform you wish to share the data. Otherwise, the app will remind you to log in before sharing.


    Maintenance

    Taking care of your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+

  • Do not subject the product to excessive force, shock, dust, temperature changes or humidity. Never expose the product to direct sunlight for extended periods. Such treatment may result in malfunction.
  • Do not tamper with the internal components. Doing so will terminate the product warranty and may cause damage. The main unit contains no user-serviceable parts.
  • Do not take the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ apart. Contact the retailer or our customer service department if the product requires servicing.
  • Check the functions and clean the device if it has not been used for a long time.
  • Avoid excessive water

  • To prevent the product from deterioration and discoloration. Please do not use under the following conditions:
    o Water containing bath liquid
    o Hot springs
    o Boiling water
    o Chemical
  • Please do not use it in place of extremely high or low temperature and high humidity. (0 °C ~ ambient temperature 40 °C), please use in a range of 20% to 80% humidity.)

  • Cleaning your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+

  • Use a soft, slightly moistened cloth. Do not use abrasive or corrosive cleaning agents, as these may cause damage. Use lukewarm water and mild soap to clean the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ thoroughly after each training session.
  • Stretch the wristband with some pressure to take out the smart core before you clean the band.

    Dispose your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+

  • When disposing of this product, ensure it is collected separately for special treatment and not as normal household waste.
  • Important safety information

    To ensure you use your product correctly and safely, read these warnings before using the product:

  • This product uses a magnet. If you are using medical equipment such as pacemakers, please do not use this product because they may cause malfunction.
  • Please do not use this item too close to general telephones, TVs and radios as the product may affect their signal.
  • The body of this product is not scratch-resistant and therefore must be treated with care.
  • This product must not be tampered with in any way; doing so is a breach of the Radio Laws and Regulations.

    1. What does your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ do for you?

    Our Oregon Scientific™ Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ (PE288/PE289) can track your all-day activities, whether it’s daytime or night. It records your activity data and transfers it to your mobile app through the Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth Low Energy-BLE). You can easily and systematically track your activity volume and sleep quality on a daily basis. OLED display shows your activity and data. It is also available for customization. Anti-dust and adjustable wristband is convenient to be maintained and worn.

    2. How does Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ connect with Smart Phone / mobile device?

    Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ wirelessly connects with Smart Phone /

    mobile device via the latest Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

    3. What is BLE?

    The Bluetooth low energy (BLE), as known as the Bluetooth Smart, is a feature of the Bluetooth 4.0 wireless radio technology, aimed at new, principally low-power and low-latency, applications for wireless devices within a short range.

    6. Once connected the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ with USB charger, how do I know that it is charging?

    Connect the USB charger pod to any proper power source. The OLED display on Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ shows the charging animation while charging. When the charging is completed, it displays steadily.

    7. How to wear it?

    10. What do I need to setup before starting?

    12. I want to change my Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ to another one, what should I do?

    Please unpair your current Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ from the application through the Setting in your mobile device.

    13. How to set activity targets?

    Go to Settings > Activity targets in the App or see Set your activity targets section in this manual.

    14. Why do I need to set calorie intake?

    You can monitor your daily calorie consumption via the App., This helps you realize your calorie intake, making it easier for you to achieve your daily calorie target.

    Calorie value of each food can be found on the packaging of the food or by being searched on the Internet.

    You can also search for it in the App to see if we have it stored in our database.

    To input calorie intake, slowly swipe down at the top of the Home screen.

    15. Any reference for me to achieve daily activity volume?

    When you turn on the Calorie BMR function in User Profile, your tracker and the Home screen show an estimated number of calories burnt based on your basal metabolic rate (BMR). BMR is the calories burnt while you are at rest in order to keep your body functioning, When the Calorie BMR function is on, it adjusts the number of calories burnt on your Home screen.

    17. How many days of record does the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ store?

    Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ stores up to 7 days of records.

    18. How do I know the version of my Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+?

    You can check the version number on your Ssmart Fit app. It is at the bottom of the Settings screen.

    19. Do I need to upgrade my Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ periodically?

    20. How to view my activity progress?

    You can check your activity progress by setting the achievement in the set display. It displays the progress in percentage .

    Tap the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ twice to display activity information in details including active minutes, steps, calories and distance; also for the achievement.

    You can also check your progress on the Ssmart Fit app. Simply tap on one of the four icons, on the home screen, representing Active Minutes, Steps, Distance and Calories and the screen will automatically move to the data screen.

    You can also view the status through graphical view. Tap to view. Rotate the screen to horizontal to review the data history by selecting the icons (day, week, month, and year).

    21. How to use Sleep Monitor function?

    Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ has a built-in 3D acceleration sensor, which can detect vibration during your sleeping and then transfer the sleeping status to the app for analysis. The app can graphically show the sleeping status for your review. To start the Sleep Monitor function, press and hold the operation button on Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ until the smart core displays

    and then vibrates, or tap Enter sleep mode in the Sleep section in Ssmart Fit app on your mobile device.
    22. What should I do if I get up and want to end the Sleep Monitoring function?

    You can press and hold the operation button on Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ until the smart core displays

    and then vibrates, or press Exit sleep mode in Ssmart Fit app on your mobile device.

    23. How do I know that the Sleep Monitoring mode is working properly?

    To check if the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is working properly, press the operation button. The smart core displays

    your actual sleeping time.

    24. If I forget to exit the Sleeping Monitoring mode, what should I do?

    The Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ will exit the sleep monitoring mode automatically 12 hours after the mode has been started and switched to a normal activity mode.

    25. Can I view my sleep data in the app?

    Yes. You can view the following data:
    • Awake marks in bar chart
    • Sleeping time starts
    • Sleeping time ends
    • Total sleep time
    • Number of times of awake
    • Fell asleep time

    26. Where is my record stored?

    All your records are stored into your mobile device and the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ keeps the latest 7 days record.

    27. How do I know my Home screen shows the latest sleeping data?

    Your Home screen shows the latest sleeping status record. However, if there is no new sleeping status record, the last record will no longer show on the screen after 2 days. To review the previous record, press

    28. I would like to share my data with my friends, what should I do?

    You can share your data via various social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Sina Weibo and Tencent Weibo. Make sure you have logged into the account of your desired platform before sharing the data from our app.

    29. Can Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ pair with my computer?

    No. Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is only compatible with smart mobile devices via the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

    30. Do I need to reset my Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ for recording a new day?

    No. The Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ will reset every midnight.

    31. Does Ssmart Fit app work on my iPad?

    Yes. Please get the app by searching “Ssmart Fit” in Apple Store on your smart device. It is available in iPhone Apps section. Tap the “iPad” button to get the “Ssmart Fit” app.

    32. Is the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ water-resistant?

    The Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is water-resistant up to 1 ATM (10 meters or 16.4 feet). This means you can use the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ while washing hands or under a rainy weather. However, please prevent using it from swimming or other water sport activities (such as surfing, snorkeling and deep water diving).

    33. I cannot receive any notifications from my Android device.

    Some Android mobile devices may need to activate the notification access in order to receive notifications on your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+. Go to Settings on your mobile device, scroll to Security > Notification access, then check the box of Ssmart Fit app.

    34. I experienced connectivity issue between my mobile device and Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+, what should I do?

    You may need to reconnect the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+. To do this, unpair the Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ first.

    Go to Settings > Bluetooth with your mobile device. In the paired devices list, tap the setting option of Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+, then tap Forget this device.

    To pair with the app again, refer to Pairing Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ with the App section in this manual.

    If the app displays “Device not found”:

    • Restart the Bluetooth by turning it off and then on again.
    • If this problem persists, restart your Android device.
    35. My Dynamo 2 is not working:

    If you experience one of the following problems:

    • Your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is not syncing
    • Your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ does not respond to movement
    • Your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ is charged but is not responding
    • Your tracker does not track your steps

    Insert your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ charging pod and plug the pod into the USB power supply. Check if your /Dynamo 2+ displays the charging animation.

    Refer to item 34 for reestablishing the Bluetooth connection.

    My Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ does not display the charging animation
    In this case, you may need to try resetting your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+.

    Reset your data to previous day

    1. Insert your Dynamo 2/Dynamo 2+ to the charging pod.
    2. Plug the charging pod into the USB power supply.
    3. Use pointy object (eg. end of a paper clip) to press the reset key gently.
    4. The screen displays the charging animation or the version number when the reset is successful.

    You may need to repeat Step 1-3 until the screen displays the charging animation.

    Reset to default

    1. Repeat step 1-4 above.
    2. Press the reset key again. The screen displays
      when the reset is successful.

    The Bluetooth® function

  • In compliance with EC directives and FCC standards and wireless standards in Japan, the Bluetooth® function of this product is certified.
  • Within the Bluetooth® devices 2.4GHz frequency band, a variety of equipments should be operating normally. If other devices affect the communication distance and reduce the communication speed, the Bluetooth transmission will be interrupted.
  • Please do not use the product near devices that generate electromagnetic waves, such as a microwave oven.
  • An often overlooked source of interference is the common microwave oven. Microwave ovens also use the same 2.4GHz spectrum as the Bluetooth, but use a very high power signal that heats food. This high-power signal can make it difficult for the Bluetooth signals to be received correctly and will result in audio static or slower Bluetooth data connections.
